The Diversity Awards Reception and Conference was a phenomenal event
and wouldn't be possible without the support of our generous sponsors. The Barristers Club was able to make this event accessible to all interested attorneys. The all-day conference was our most well-attended Barristers Club educational event of the year and was well received by participants who have reached out to compliment the breadth and quality of the program.
Over 200 participants and 24 distinguished panelists representing many segments of the legal profession in San Francisco attended, including attorneys with law firms, non-profits, and corporations, as well as government attorneys, including members of the bench as well as elected officials.
The conference and awards lifted up efforts and ideas to support diversity and inclusion in the legal profession and celebrated attorneys who have increased awareness of diversity issues in the Bay Area legal community.
The theme of this year's conference was "Where We've Been and Where We Are Going" and six sessions touched on topics ranging from strategies to increase juror diversity to steps legal employers can take to recruit, retain, promote and develop underrepresented attorneys.
We were thrilled to be able to bring back an in-person awards reception this year and enjoyed welcoming attendees to our conference center to celebrate our accomplished award recipients Kelly Matayoshi and Ernest Hammond III.
We have received a great deal of positive feedback from participants and panelists alike about this year’s program and look forward to continuing to grow this annual event. None of it would have been possible without the extraordinary generosity of our sponsors.
