Whether it is taking advantage of the many Continuing Legal Education (CLE) events the Litigation Section offers, brushing up on your trial skills, getting updates on the state of the court, or networking at the annual Bench Bar Conference, most members of the Bar Association of San Francisco (BASF) have some exposure to the Litigation Section’s events.
The Litigation Section has continued the tradition of offering a State of the Court presentation with the leadership of the San Francisco Superior Court to help litigators navigate the continuing uncertainty of this era.
This year’s State of the Court event was held on January 29, 2021. The panel of judges included Presiding Judge Samuel K. Feng, Assistant Presiding Judge Anne-Christine Massullo, Judge Ethan P. Schulman, and Court Chief Executive Officer T. Michael Yuen.
The Litigation Section also hosted Trial by Zoom on January 20, 2021, featuring San Francisco Superior Court Assistant Presiding Judge Anne-Christine Massullo, Alameda Superior Court Judge Brad Seligman, Zela “Zee” G. Claiborne of JAMS, and Claude M. Stern of Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan.
Litigation Section programs are organized by the section’s executive committee, a diverse set of attorneys volunteering from firms big and small, and government agencies, representing both the plaintiff and defense side of civil litigation. It has been a pleasure to work with this group of attorneys to prepare relevant CLE programs, and discuss the topics affecting the breadth of practices represented by the section. I look forward to the programs we present throughout 2021, as we continue to adjust to the new challenges of this year.
