The Justice & Diversity Center’s Mock Trial committee is gearing up for this year’s High School Mock Trial Regional Competition and would love for each of you to consider volunteering to be a presiding judge or scoring judge. Orientation begins at 5:30 p.m., and the rounds end no later than 8:30 p.m. (and often earlier). Preparation is minimal, and the competition round is engaging and entertaining. The program works with public high school students here in San Francisco.
Students act as attorneys and witnesses; prepare their case based on a package of witness statements and evidence. All volunteers will be recognized in our publications and at our post-competition celebration. Team up with a colleague and volunteer today to help make the tournament a success. This is a great opportunity to network with your colleagues in the legal profession, build relationships, and watch students develop their skills in the courtroom!
We are still seeking additional guest scorers for the following dates:
- Tuesday, January 29 from 5-8 p.m. – seeking six more scoring judges
- Thursday, January 31 from 5-8 p.m. – seeking four presiding judges and eight scoring judges
- Tuesday, February 5 from 5-8 p.m. – seeking one presiding judge and fourteen scoring judges
- Thursday, February 7 from 5-8 p.m. – seeking three presiding judges and eight scoring judges
