ABA Commission Honors Mark Schickman
Past BASF President Mark Schickman, a partner at Freeland Cooper & Foreman, was recently recognized by the ABA Commission on Domestic and Sexual Violence with their 20/20 Vision Award for his trailblazing advocacy against domestic and sexual violence.
Schickman’s activities includes training employers to prevent workplace sexual harassment; helping to draft the ABA Model Workplace Policy on Domestic and Sexual Violence, and obtaining its approval by the ABA House of Delegates.
He has carried several domestic violence resolutions through the house, including the reauthorization of VAWA, the provision of housing rights for DV victims and the effort to afford greater protection to sexual assault victims in the military and on Native American lands.

Leader Circle Firms Honored as Top Corporate Philanthropists

In addition, Farella Braun + Martel received the Education Partner of the Year Award – related to the firm’s diversity pipeline summer internship, scholarship and credit recovery programs. Farella’s Managing Partner Steve Lowenthal accepted the award on behalf of the firm.
Bassi Edlin Huie & Blum Wins Legaltech Innovation Award
BASF Leader Circle Firm Bassi Edlin Huie & Blum recently won an Innovation Award from Legaltech News in the category of “Most Innovative Use of Technology in a Law Firm” for bringing predictive analytics in-house. Member Honored for Litigation Management
Shay Gilmore was recently awarded the Claims and Litigation Management Alliance (CLM) Professional of the Year Award in the Litigation Management category for his work as in-house counsel for Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company. He is now with Norcal Mutual Insurance.
Nanci Clarence Appointed to U.S. Sentencing Commission
The U.S. Sentencing Commission appointed past BASF President Nanci Clarence, Clarence Dyer & Cohen, as Vice Chair of the Practitioners Advisory Group (PAG), effective October 2015. PAG’s purpose is to provide the perspective of attorneys representing individuals and organizations charged under federal criminal laws.
