The Bar Association of San Francisco’s Lawyer Referral and Information Service has hired Adina Hemley-Bronstein as its new Immigration Case Coordinator to help manage the activity from the “expedited dockets” at the San Francisco Immigration Court.
For more than 25 years, LRIS has administered the “Attorney of the Day” (AOD) program for the Court, scheduling two “Attorneys of the Day” to assist respondents in removal proceedings on a pro bono basis. However, since late July when the Court formed the “expedited dockets” to address the surge of unaccompanied minors and families with children who have crossed into the United States from Central America, an additional eight AODs (or more) are being scheduled most every day of the week.
With more than 2,000 cases anticipated by years end, the coordination from AOD intake to referrals for pro bono representation among the many immigration non-profits in San Francisco will be the core responsibility of the LRIS Immigration Case Coordinator.
If you are an experienced immigration attorney and would like to apply for the Attorney of the Day program, view the application at www.sfbar.org/lawyerreferrals/att-join.aspx.
If you are an attorney who wants to take a case pro bono but needs training and mentoring, contact LRIS Supervisor Antonio Hernandez at 415-477-2374 or ahernandez@sfbar.org.
