Governor Newsom Nominates Justice Martin Jenkins for the California Supreme Court
BASF congratulates Justice Martin Jenkins on his nomination to serve as Associate Justice of the California Supreme Court! Justice Jenkins has served as Judicial Appointments Secretary to Governor Newsom since 2019. From 2008 to 2019, he served as Associate Justice on the California Court of Appeal, First Appellate District.
Justice Jenkins has been involved with numerous BASF and Justice & Diversity Center (JDC) programs over the years, mentoring law students and young attorneys. Most recently, in June of this year, he participated in a virtual panel presentation to Barristers Club attorneys interested in pursuing a judicial career. Justice Jenkins served on BASF’s Juvenile Justice Task Force and JDC’s Bay Area Minority Law Student Scholarship committee. He was also part of the leadership committee that launched JDC’s Open Doors 1L Job Shadow Program. In addition, he participated in “It Starts with a Day‘ service days, gardening with incarcerated youth at Log Cabin Ranch High School.
Past President, Leaders Circle Firm Recognized with Chambers Diversity & Inclusion Awards
BASF Past President Joan Haratani, Morgan, Lewis & Bockius, was honored for her Outstanding Contribution to Furthering the Advancement of Diversity in the Legal Profession at the Chambers Diversity & Inclusion Awards: North America 2020.
Leaders Circle firm Farella Braun + Martel earned the Highly Commended award in the Inclusive Firm of the Year.
Sarah Good Appointed to State Bar Council on Access and Fairness
BASF member Sarah Good, Farella Braun + Martel, was appointed to the State Bar of California’s Council on Access and Fairness for a four-year term beginning on September 25. The 10-member council supports the Board of Trustees on effectuating the State Bar’s diversity and inclusion goals and objectives.
