BASF Leaders Circle firm Morrison & Foerster recently released the August 2020 California Wildfires Helping Handbook, to help people affected by the ongoing California wildfires navigate available aid, as well as with the myriad issues that arise for wildfire survivors. The recent Helping Handbook update follows the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) announcement that residents in Lake, Monterey, Napa, San Mateo, Santa Cruz, Solano, Sonoma, and Yolo counties are eligible to register for federal disaster relief assistance.
The handbook provides up-to-date, practical information for individuals, families, and small businesses on subjects including housing, government benefits, insurance, FEMA assistance, replacement of lost documents, and fraud prevention. Morrison & Foerster is working with the Disaster Legal Assistance Collaborative, which has launched a legal advice hotline and online platform where people impacted by the wildfires can get help.
The Helping Handbook is now available online at https://www.mofo.com/2020-wildfires, and organizations serving communities impacted by the wildfires may request free copies in bulk by sending a request to firehandbook@mofo.com.
