The Lawyer Referral and Information Service (LRIS) membership year runs from July 1 to June 30, 2016. Whether you are submitting an application to join this award-winning and innovative program for the first time or are a renewing member, now is the time to submit your Attorney Agreement and area of law Panel Applications. Basic membership in the service is only $200. BASF members pay just $125.
This past year brought expansion to LRIS. The end of June 2014 saw the closure of the Marin County Bar Association’s Lawyer Referral Service and to ensure continued access to qualified attorneys and legal information, LRIS expanded to take on Marin-based clients.
In addition to the benefits of receiving referrals of thoroughly pre-screened, viable cases, LRIS members also enjoy a 20% discounted BASF Mediation administrative fee for both sides in an LRIS referred case.
LRIS expanded again in the fall of 2014 in response to the “surge” of immigrant unaccompanied minors and families with children who crossed into the United States from Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador. LRIS became a partner in the newly formed San Francisco Immigrant Legal Defense Collaborative, funded to assist these recent arrivals with pro bono representation.
Membership is beneficial to solo and small firm practitioners, as well as to associates in large firms. Referrals span the legal spectrum with initial case screening handled by a team of multi-lingual legal interviewers. LRIS maintains an active and visible presence in the community through radio, television, transit, and online marketing, as well as partnerships with the business community, district supervisors, and government and social service organizations. LRIS serves as a vital resource to families, individuals, and businesses throughout the San Francisco Bay Area.
