One highly valued offering of The Bar Association of San Francisco is its Legal Ethics Committee Hotline.
The hotline is staffed by volunteers from the Legal Ethics Committee, many of whom have legal practices that regularly involve professional responsibility, legal ethics, and the defense of lawyers in state bar matters.
Fellow attorneys with ethical questions or concerns may use the hotline by completing a disclaimer/consent form found at www.sfbar.org/legal-ethics, which they in turn fax or email to BASF. The completed form is immediately referred to a volunteer during normal business hours.
Volunteers from the committee sign up to respond to hotline inquiries. In the event a volunteer is not able to assist with a particular hotline inquiry, the volunteer on duty can tap the depth and breadth of experience of others on the Legal Ethics Committee for help.
Please refer to the controlling disclaimer/consent form on the BASF website and consider using the hotline, telling colleagues about it, and joining the BASF Legal Ethics Committee at its fourth Tuesday meetings at the BASF offices or via our conference line. The meetings run from noon to 1:30 p.m.
Joining the committee is a great way to stay sharp, learn more about the law governing lawyers, and provide a helpful and timely service to colleagues.
Visit www.sfbar.org/legal-ethics for more information about the hotline.
