The first annual Law Rocks battle of the bands competition took place at The Independent, the night of June 13, raising over $22,000 to benefit San Francisco Bay Area charities. Five bands, including 12th Root of 2 and Def Piper performed classic rock, modern rock and pop covers.
Winning band Def Piper, representing DLA Piper, chose the Cooperative Restraining Order Clinic (CROC) as their beneficiary. CROC is a city-wide project which provides free and confidential assistance to domestic violence survivors seeking restraining orders against their abusers. CROC is a long-time collaborator with the Justice & Diversity Center, which is also its fiscal agent.
