To provide pro bono help to nonprofit organizations that serve low-income communities, the Justice & Diversity Center (JDC) partnered with volunteer attorneys and accounting professionals from two law firms and two accounting firms in July to hold a clinic for nonprofit organizations. The firms included Bingham McCutchen; Sheppard Mullin Richter & Hampton; Deloitte Consulting; and PricewaterhouseCoopers.
After Deloitte gave an overview of financial management for nonprofits, lawyers and accounting professionals met with five nonprofits to assess their overall legal and financial health. The non-profits attending the clinic provide essential services to low-income communities, including after-school programs on youth leadership and civic engagement, family support and housing services, nutritious food and general assistance, higher education programs to incarcerated people, and advocating for immigrant rights.
JDC thanks all the Bingham, Sheppard Mullin, Deloitte and PricewaterhouseCoopers volunteers who gave their time at this clinic, and especially thanks Bingham for hosting.
