The Justice & Diversity Center (JDC) is pleased to welcome Eunice Chang as the Staff Attorney for the Right to Civil Counsel Pilot Program (RTCC). RTCC, the first of its kind in the nation, is a joint venture between JDC and the City and County of San Francisco, and provides counsel in civil cases in which basic human needs are at stake.
Before joining JDC, Chang primarily represented corporate clients during twelve years as an insurance defense attorney. Last year, Chang, who speaks English and Cantonese, began volunteering for JDC on behalf of low-income and bilingual clients, and is glad to now give back as a JDC staff attorney. She earned her J.D. at Santa Clara University School of Law.
JDC’s Low Income Taxpayer Clinic (LITC) is pleased to announce its new Supervising Attorney, Sarah Drinkwater. The LITC assists low-income taxpayers in controversy with the Internal Revenue Service. The clinic provides a range of services including full-scope tax court representation, negotiating relief from tax obligations, and a “Day of Docket” program that assists unrepresented litigants on the day of the U.S. Tax Court docket call.
After being at a firm which specialized in tax and bankruptcy, Drinkwater’s passion for public service motivated her move to JDC. She graduated from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law.
JDC also welcomes Antonia More as the supervising attorney for the Family Law Assisted Self-Help (FLASH) project. Her office is in the San Francisco Superior Court, where she provides individual assistance to low-income pro se litigants in complex family law matters. More is trilingual and enjoys helping pro se litigants in Spanish, Russian and English.
Before joining JDC, More staffed the Alameda County Superior Court’s Family Law Facilitator’s Office, volunteered with the Alameda County Bar Association in the Superior Court, and was a litigation partner in a private firm. She has litigated, mediated and refereed civil and family disputes in both public and private contexts. She earned her J.D. from UC Hastings College of the Law.
