More than fifty celebrants, including sixteen federal judges from the Northern District of California, gathered at the Phillip Burton Federal Building and United States Courthouse in February to mark another successful year of the Justice & Diversity Center’s (JDC) Federal Pro Bono Project.

Since the Federal Pro Bono Project started in 2008, more than one hundred law firms and solo practitioners have represented over two hundred and seventy-five people who had been proceeding pro se.

JDC is grateful to Chief Judge Phyllis J. Hamilton and Judge Edward M. Chen for their remarks during the celebration, and to Tina Ngo and Ariel House of Baker Botts, for speaking about their experience volunteering for the project.

JDC would also like to thank all the judges, volunteer attorneys and JDC staff who made this a warm and lively event.
