The Justice & Diversity Center of The Bar Association of San Francisco (JDC) is the beneficiary of a recent cy pres settlement.
The $200,657 award was received in late August and hand delivered to BASF/JDC Executive Director Yolanda Jackson and JDC Legal Services Director Mairi McKeever by Daniel Mogin of The Mogin Law Firm and Adam Belsky of Gross Belsky Alonso.
The case, Joel Roos and Tom Santos v. Honeywell International, Inc and DOES 1-100 involved a claim of faulty thermostats. Belsky served as lead co-counsel with Mogin serving as co-counsel.
BASF President Michael Tubach of O’Melveny & Myers was instrumental in JDC being the cy pres recipient. During the settlement phase of the case, Tubach, as the lead defense attorney asked to be included in the cy pres awardee selection. His request was granted resulting in JDC being named one of the cy pres recipients in this case.
