The Homeless Advocacy Project (HAP) of the Justice & Diversity Center is a nonprofit contractor of the San Francisco Department of Homelessness and Supportive Housing (HSH). With our collaborative partner, Swords to Plowshares, we provide legal and supporting social services, including extensive benefits advocacy, to individuals and families who are homeless or at imminent risk of homelessness in San Francisco.

HAP Director and Managing Attorney, Teresa Friend, participated in the first HSH Nonprofit Provider Conference on December 7.

Friend said that the conference provided a good opportunity for nonprofit providers—which provide most of the actual services funded through the Department of Homelessness and Supportive Housing —and the Department to share information, expertise and concerns and make important connections.
She hopes that communication between HSH and nonprofit partners and sharing of valuable experience will increase significantly, and felt that the conference was a good first step toward moving the homeless residents of San Francisco toward more healthy and stable lives.
