Thank you to former staff members and interns who continue to support the important work of the Justice & Diversity Center (JDC) through volunteering!
Big shout outs to 2015 Outstanding Volunteers in Public Service recipients Kyle Bassman, Nick Baran, Serene Leung, Reed Lyon and Otto Wong.
Kyle Bassman was an intern and worked with JDC’s Eviction Defense project before starting as an associate at Ropes & Gray in 2011. He currently volunteers with JDC’s Housing Negotiation Project.
Nicholas Baran originally was a volunteer with JDC then he was hired as a staff attorney. He retired but continues to volunteer with JDC’s Legal Advice & Referral Clinic.
Reed Lyon was an Equal Justice Works AmeriCorps Summer Legal Intern at JDC’s Homeless Advocacy Project in 2011 before he went to Duke University School of Law. He is now an associate at Morgan, Lewis & Bockius and supervised the firm’s summer associates’ work through HAP’s Summer Associates in Public Service Program.
Serene Leung was an intern with JDC’s Consumer Project. She is licensed in China and New York, and is awaiting her California Bar exam results.
Otto Wong was a legal intern at JDC in 2014 where he gained experience through the Consumer Project, Medical-Legal Project and Eviction Defense Project. He is now a Litigation Assistant at Vogl Meredith Burke and continues to volunteer with JDC’s Interpreter project.
