November 18, 2018 – San Francisco – Five members of the Bar Association of San Francisco (BASF) will be honored with awards for their dedication to the organization in 2018.
The following members are being honored with Awards of Merit:
Teresa L. Johnson, Arnold & Porter Kaye Scholer, for her service on BASF’s Finance Committee and for her contributions in shepherding the organization through the implementation of building upgrades to the offices of the Homeless Advocacy Project:
Teresa “Terry” Johnson served as a member of BASF’s Finance Committee for many years and has served as the chair of this committee for several years. In this role, she provides expertise and leadership to support the financial health of both the Bar Association of San Francisco and the Justice & Diversity Center.
Charles H. Jung, Nassiri & Jung, for his contributions to the Solo & Small Firm Section and the bar community:
Charles H. Jung serves as a member of the Board of Directors of the Bar Association of San Francisco. In addition, his leadership on the executive committee of the Solo & Small Firm Section strengthened the section, its leadership, and its programming. Charles was instrumental and one of the driving forces behind the success of the section’s 2017 Solo & Small Firm Conference, now in its third successful year. Furthermore, Charles created collaborations with sister bar organizations, expanded the section’s programming, and created a pipeline of inclusive section leadership.
Nancy E. Pritikin, Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton, for her valuable and generous assistance in BASF/JDC employment matters:
Pritikin is a partner in the Labor and Employment Practice Group in Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton’s Silicon Valley office. Well-versed in high-profile employment matters, Pritikin has provided her expertise and counsel pro bono in employment matters at the Bar Association of San Francisco and the Justice & Diversity Center (JDC) for several years.
Hon. Christine Van Aken, Superior Court of California, San Francisco City and County, for her service on the Amicus Curiae Committee from 2014-2018:
Prior to her appointment to the bench, Hon. Christine Van Aken, served for many years as co-chair of BASF’s Amicus Curiae committee. Under her leadership, the committee provided guidance, expertise and recommendations to help BASF join as Amicus Curiae in numerous cases, including marriage equality and immigration cases.
The following member is being recognized with an Outstanding Barristers Award:
Adam Kaplan, Munger Tolles & Olson, for his outstanding contributions and service to the Barristers Club:
Adam Kaplan joined the board of directors of the Barristers Club in 2015, and served as president in 2017. His enthusiasm and outstanding commitment Barristers and BASF programs and events continue. In 2017 and 2018, Kaplan helped organize Meet the Judges events, free community events that offer attendees the opportunity to engage directly in a dialogue with members of the bench.
The awards will be presented at the Bar Association of San Francisco’s Annual Membership Luncheon and Installation of Officers on December 18, 2018.
