The first Women in Trial training took place this past Friday and Saturday, and it was a huge success. The February training sold out quickly, but spots remain for the second training in July. Don’t miss your chance to attend the July 19-20 training – sign up today.
An initiative of 2019 President Doris Cheng, the two-day trainings focus on building advocacy skills and generating courtroom experience for women and minority attorneys. The trainings are moderated by Cheng and mirror the National Institute of Trial Advocacy format, which follows the learning-by-doing model.
Cheng announced the Women in Trial initiative during her installment speech at the December 18, 2018 Annual Membership Luncheon. “We need greater diversity in the courtroom where women and people of color will not be held back, and we need partners and peers to promote their presence in that arena,” Cheng said, adding that “the sustained under-utilization of powerful voices is not progress.”
