If you are like most people, when someone mentions Dolby Laboratories, the first thing that comes to mind is surround sound. If there is a soundtrack to life, chances are Dolby is providing the audio.
For the Justice & Diversity Center (JDC) of The Bar Association of San Francisco and the more than 9,000 clients served annually, Dolby is music to their ears.
Dolby Laboratories, a San Francisco-based company for over 40 years, was presented with the “2016 Outstanding Corporation Award” at JDC’s Annual Outstanding Volunteer Appreciation Celebration on March 21, 2017. (Press Release)
The award recognizes Dolby’s legal team for its long-standing commitment to the community and its leadership in building and growing pro bono projects with JDC.
Attorneys in Dolby’s in-house legal department first began volunteering with JDC at Project Homeless Connect in 2015. Dolby has continued that partnership, but didn’t stop there. They also partnered with JDC to offer a free legal clinic for nonprofits, helping them to navigate legal issues so the nonprofits could concentrate on assisting their clients.
Dolby’s engagement with the community goes beyond just providing pro bono legal services- this year, Dolby attorney Amy Skryja is co-chairing JDC’s Leadership Council. The Leadership Council serves as JDC’s think-tank, helping to develop strategy and providing guidance on pro bono projects and volunteer recruitment efforts. According to Skryja, “Dolby’s legal department is in a unique position to use our training and professional expertise to have a direct impact in our community. I am grateful that Dolby encourages all employees to give back to those in our community who need our help.”
Dolby is also leading the way as a returning sponsor for JDC’s Annual Gala on September 28, 2017.
JDC is truly grateful for Dolby Laboratories and their harmonic approach to giving back to the community.
