The Justice & Diversity Center’s Community Organization Representation Project (CORP), Covington & Burling, and Dolby Laboratories held a free clinic for eight nonprofit organizations who provide essential services to underserved communities, including: foster care, therapy and services for youth; bilingual and multicultural care for low-income families; and arts, education and violence prevention for youth and adults impacted by incarceration.
Teams of Dolby and Covington counsel trained 17 volunteer attorneys on legal issues relevant to nonprofits, such as assessing their legal health and identifying issues that need attention.
After the clinic, several attorneys will work on those issues for the nonprofits while JDC seeks pro bono attorneys to manage the rest.
JDC thanks Covington, Dolby and all the lawyers who volunteered their business/transactional expertise. Special thanks to Covington for hosting a post-clinic reception for all participants.
