BASF recently held a panel discussion “Judicial Crisis: Declining Presence of African Americans on Federal and State Court Benches.”

The event was co-sponsored by the Charles Houston Bar Association, California Association of Black Lawyers, Bay Area Black Prosecutors Association and Region IX – National Bar Association. Attendees were given an invaluable opportunity to learn about the judicial nomination and appointment process; practical tips for judicial applications and hear from esteemed African American judges about their personal experiences.

Panelists included: Hon. Saundra Armstrong and Hon. Phyllis Hamilton, both of U.S. District Court, Northern District of California; Hon. Brenda Harbin-Forte, Alameda County Superior Court; Hon. Troy Nunley, U.S. District Court, Eastern District of California; Professor Margaret Russell, Santa Clara University School of Law; Former BASF President Jon Streeter, Keker & Van Nest; and Fredericka McGee, General Counsel to the California State Assembly Speaker.
