Congratulations to Covington & Burling for a remarkable result in a pro bono civil rights case for a prisoner.
“Mr. P” is a JDC client who is wheelchair bound and was denied proper medical treatment while incarcerated. He filed a lawsuit in the Northern District of California and represented himself for several years until Covington took his case in 2016.
Cort Lannin (pictured) represented Mr. P with supervision from partner Phillip Warren. They settled the case for over $15,000 when most similar cases are dismissed or settled for nominal amounts. Covington also recently settled a similar case in the Eastern District of California. JDC is grateful for Cort, Phillip and Covington’s support staff for their hard work on this pro bono matter.
