The Justice & Diversity Center (JDC) extends its gratitude to Coblentz Patch Duffy & Bass for their amazing commitment to pro bono. On July 24, JDC’s Community Organization Representation Project (CORP) partnered with Alan Gennis and Misti Schmidt from Coblentz to offer a free workshop on real estate geared specifically towards a nonprofit audience.
With commercial real estate space at a premium in the Bay Area, over 20 local nonprofits were able to take advantage of this free opportunity to learn more about best practices and pitfalls to avoid in lease negotiation and administration, shared space agreements, exit strategies, and more. While these participants represented organizations that were of different sizes and stages of development, everyone benefited from Coblentz’s clear, engaging overview of a complicated but crucially important topic.
Many thanks to Alan, Misti, and the rest of the team at Coblentz who helped organize, prepare, and present this highly successful workshop! By providing expert guidance at events like CORP workshops and legal clinics, volunteers help multiple local nonprofits plan ahead, strengthen their operations, and ensure that jobs and services can remain in communities where they’re needed most.
