The Justice & Diversity Center’s Bay Area Minority Law Student Scholarship program demonstrates our commitment to advancing diversity in the legal profession. The program awards diverse first year Bay Area law students with a $30,000 scholarship, over three years, based on financial need, academic achievement and overcoming adversity. Uduak Oduok
Law School: UC Hastings College of the Law, Juris Doctorate, 2001.
Year of scholarship: 1998 -2001.
Employer: Partner and Co-Founder, Ebitu Law Group.
Practice Area: Oduok currently practices in the areas of business litigation, entertainment and fashion law. She has represented and counseled clients in matters ranging from breach of contract disputes, promoter agreements, sports-agent agreements, debt collection disputes and copyright infringement.
Benefit of the Bay Area Minority Law Student Scholarship: “I worked while attending law school and also received financial aid. So, the scholarship money I received was helpful in reducing the cost of obtaining a legal education and I remain appreciative.”
Elizabeth Tran
Law School: UC Hastings College of the Law, Juris Doctorate, 2011.
Years of Scholarship: 2008 – 2011.
Employer: Cotchett, Pitre & McCarthy.
Practice Area: Elizabeth is an associate in Antitrust & Global Competition. She focuses exclusively on litigation and trial, prosecuting antitrust cases in various markets, including automotive parts, air transportation, cargo and logistics, and life-saving blood products.
