For Women’s History month, BASF’s No Glass Ceiling Initiative (NGC) partnered with close the gap CA to host a dynamic panel presentation on the necessity for more women to run for legislative offices.
The Stop the Slide Tour was developed by close the gap CA, a statewide recruiting campaign to find talented, progressive women to run and win seats in the California legislature in 2014 and 2016. Moderated by NGC co-chair Pat Gillette, panelists included: Carmen Chu, assessor-recorder and former supervisor, San Francisco; Sophie Maxwell, former supervisor, San Francisco; and Rebecca Sive, author of “Every Day is Election Day.”
Panelists spoke about their motivations and personal experiences as elected officials, practical tips and words of encouragement for other women interested in pursuing elected positions. Similar panel presentations were hosted by close the gap CA in Palo Alto, Los Angeles and San Diego.
