BASF Hosts 6th Annual WIN Conference

The Women’s Impact Network (WIN) No Glass Ceiling 2.0, part of the Bar Association of San Francisco’s Equality Committee, is dedicated to promoting gender equality within the legal field. This committee upholds the legacy of the No Glass Ceiling Taskforce by bringing stakeholders together and turning data into action. Last week, the committee co-chairs, Leiann Laiks and Jessica Juarez, presented the 6th Annual WIN Conference, focusing on Women in Leadership and Law. This half-day conference continues to offer opportunities for learning, connecting, and growing alongside like-minded peers in the legal field.

The first panel, “Venture Capital 2024 – Fund Formation, Fundraising, and Investing from Women in VC,” invited female lawyers to discuss how VCs form their funds and managing entities. They also provided advice on investing in startups, fundraising from LPs, and addressed the current state of the market in 2024. Following this, Panel II: “Strengthen Your Leadership Skills by Joining a Corporate Board,” reviewed the statistics on women joining corporate boards and how to overcome typical barriers to obtaining board directorships and senior management positions. This panel was particularly empowering for those early in their career, as speakers highlighted concrete steps and processes to join corporate boards. The final panel, “Women’s Empowerment and Connection” addressed women and diversity in the legal professions, as well as the journey to the Bench. We extend our gratitude to all the panelists and moderators for sharing their time, experiences, questions, and wisdom with the attendees.

The afternoon concluded with a networking reception, allowing attendees to meet each other and the panelists in a more casual setting. We hope everyone left feeling uplifted and with new insights and connections. We also want to acknowledge all the WIN Conference Sponsors, without whom this event would not have been possible.
