BASF Member Honored with State Bar Award
Barg Coffin Lewis & Trapp attorney David M. Metres has been selected by the State Bar of California’s Real Property Law Section as one of five recipients of its “Morning Star” award – recognizing young real property lawyers who have demonstrated early dedication to the State Bar of California.
California Lawyer Magazine Announces 2014 Attorney of the Year Recipients

Super Lawyer Announces Pro Bono Awards
BASF member Victor Schachter, Fenwick & West and Leader Circle firm Morrison & Foerster were both recently recognized by Super Lawyers with a Pro Bono Award. The award recipients will be featured in the May 2014 digital issue of Super Lawyers.
Schacter was recognized because he helped to establish and strengthen mediation centers in India and the Balkans through The Foundation for Sustainable Rule of Law Initiatives, a charitable nonprofit corporation he founded.
Morrison & Foerster was recognized for their pro bono work with the Justice & Diversity Center’s Right to Civil Counsel project.
Doris Cheng Named Director of Intensive Advocacy Program
BASF member Doris Cheng, Walkup Melodia Kelly & Schoenberger, has recently taken over as director of the Intensive Advocacy Program (IAP), a two-week summer course that teaches students practical legal skills in litigation and trial techniques and strategies at University of San Francisco School of Law.
San Francisco Business Times Names “40 Under 40”
Both Kristen Law Sagafi, Lieff Cabraser Heimann & Bernstein and Gina Durham, DLA Piper, were recently named to the San Francisco Business Times “40 Under 40” list.
Hyun Park Recognized as Influential Attorney
Hyun Park, General Counsel of Pacific Gas and Electric Company was included in On Being a Lawyer of Color’s 2014 List of Most Influential Minority Attorneys.
Member Appointed to Expert Council
Dean Fealk, DLA Piper, was appointed to the Northern California District Export Council by U.S. Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker. The council promotes increased U.S. exports and economic growth by providing business leadership and international expertise to support the U.S. Department of Commerce in trade related-matters.
Past President Honored
Past BASF President Therese Stewart, San Francisco City Attorney’s Office, will be honored by The Thelton E. Henderson Center for Social Justice on April 17. Stewart will be recognized with the Henderson Center Trailblazer for Justice Award.
