Areas of Practice: Commercial Bankruptcy, Insolvency and Turnaround Litigation
Interesting Fact: “Reno” is my lifelong nickname, derived from my father’s childhood nickname of “Chipperino.” He goes by Chipper. Reno is a traditional Mexican name, and it means reindeer in Spanish.
I initially joined BASF because:
My firm has a long history of supporting BASF, and I became a member automatically when I joined the firm as an associate attorney. I first became involved by joining the leadership team of the Barristers Club’s Business, Commercial & Bankruptcy Section and volunteering with the Justice & Diversity Center’s Consumer Collection Defense Clinic. BASF provides so many leadership opportunities that you can follow your interests as far and wide as they will take you.
I stay a BASF member because:
- BASF provides unparalleled education and networking opportunities, as well as a forum to showcase local talent. The Commercial Law & Bankruptcy Section is truly a center of gravity of the local bankruptcy bar.
- In addition to professional development and education, I had the opportunity to work with BASF’s board and leadership as a member of the Barristers Club’s board of directors. I was impressed by the range of services BASF provides to the community, including homeless advocacy, pro bono services, mock trial, diversity pipeline programs, amicus briefs and direct advocacy.
- The good BASF does in our community is incredible.
I am a section chair because:
- Chairing the Commercial Law & Bankruptcy Section provides me with the opportunity to serve the bankruptcy bar by connecting local attorneys with high quality speakers and with one another.
- Connecting with bankruptcy judges, trustees and attorneys outside of the courtroom is a vital part of fostering civility among the bar.
Reno has been a BASF member since 2007 and we appreciate his support.
