Fun Fact:
I left one of my favorite jobs, as senior staff attorney with the National Center for Lesbian Rights, because my wife Jaime received the opportunity to work for the World Health Organization in Geneva, Switzerland.
I took a sabbatical to live with her in Geneva. From there, we traveled extensively, snorkeling at the Blue Hole in Egypt, staying at a Bedouin camp in the Wadi Rum desert in Jordan, attending Lesbian Gay Bisexual & Transgender (LGBT) Pride in Tel Aviv, Israel, and trekking near Kathmandu, Nepal.
I initially joined BASF because …
I started working with a San Francisco-based firm and wanted to get to know other members of the Bay Area legal community.
I stay a BASF member because …
I highly respect BASF’s commitment to pro bono and diversity programs and I want to contribute to those efforts. I also enjoy spending time getting to know other attorneys in our community who share these common values, and who I might not otherwise have the chance to meet.
I am a Committee Chair because …
I enjoy co-leading the LGBT Subcommittee of the Equality Committee with Rob Depew and staying engaged with issues important to our LGBT community (and our allies), especially during this watershed moment in our civil and human rights history.
Thanks to our fabulous Subcommittee members, we have organized a number of events that make me proud. Those events include a LGBT Judges Panel & Reception featuring six distinguished LGBT judges and a community-wide event entitled, “Marriage On Trial: The U.S. Supreme Court, Proposition 8, DOMA and You.” The Marriage on Trial event focused on the U.S. Supreme Court same-sex marriage cases (Perry v. Schwarzenegger and United States v. Windsor) and the impact of those cases on our basic civil and human rights.
Amy has been a BASF member since 2001.
We thank her for her continued support.
