On Thursday, July 14, 2022, the Barristers Club hosts its 38th Annual Judges Reception. The year’s honoree is Judge Ethan P. Schulman, San Francisco Superior Court.

To honor this long-standing tradition, we are sharing a slideshow of photos from judges receptions throughout the years, and a few facts from the event’s history:

• The first Judges Dinner was held in October 1985.
• For its first 15 years, the event format was a formal dinner with a featured speaker. In 2000, the event was changed into a reception.
• Over the years, the event has grown into one of the most popular and well-attended event for state and federal judges.
• In 2001, the event awarded its first “Most Appreciated Judge” award, for mentorship.
• Following Barristers Club member Tara Riedley’s untimely death in 2008, the Barristers Choice Award was renamed in her honor, Tara L. Riedley Barristers Choice Award.
