Did you know that solo and small firm attorneys (offices with 1 to 9 attorneys) make up close to 20% of the entire BASF membership? “Solos and Smalls” are incredibly active with our organization and participate in various areas throughout BASF.
Solo and small firm attorneys contribute so much to the legal community and are a big reason why BASF, the JDC and its programs continue to thrive.
Brand new for 2015 is the Solo and Small Firm Section. The chair of the section, Matt Gluck, Law Office of Matthew J. Gluck, has worked with Vice-Chair Carolyn Lee, Abkin Law LLP, and others to create a new Executive Committee to enhance the Section’s activities in service to its members, BASF, and the community at large. Gluck said he’s “excited the section is ramping up with subcommittees including Networking/Social, Mentoring, CLE, and more. We are looking forward to doing more to identify how we can further support our cohort, and then following through with a robust response. We want to deliver value for the Solo/Small community.”
Looking at the impressive statistics, Section Vice-Chair Lee noted: “We often hear anecdotally how generous Solo and Small Firm attorneys are with their pro and low bono contributions that expand access to justice. I had no idea just how massive this type of giving is before seeing these statistics. Time literally is money never in the pocket for solos and small firms. It is both humbling and motivating to be part of such a quietly selfless community.”
