Past BASF Presidents Named Among Top Labor & Employment Lawyers
James M. Finberg is an esteemed partner of Altshuler Berzon partner and BASF President in 2005. Listed in the Daily Journal’s 2023 “Top Labor & Employment Lawyers” Finberg has been at the forefront of the legal battle for gender pay equity, dedicating his expertise to addressing this as pay transparency laws take hold in California. Since obtaining his bar card in 1954, he has been working relentlessly to close the gender pay gap and has taken on other significant employment issues, championing workplace fairness and equality. BASF commends Finberg for his invaluable contributions to advancing justice and ensuring a more equitable society.
Kelly M. Dermody, BASF President in 2012 and Managing Partner of Lieff Cabraser’s San Francisco office, has been a driving force in promoting anti-bias laws. Notably, she achieved a record setting $215 million settlement with Goldman Sachs over pervasive discrimination against female associates and vice presidents. Continuing her commitment to justice, Dermody is pursuing a rare single plaintiff case for a respected Black pediatric ophthalmologist, alleging a toxic workplace at Sutter Health. Her dedication to equity and accountability sets a powerful exampled for the legal community.
Malcom A Heinicke, the co-managing partner of Munger, Tolles, and Olson and 2018 BASF President, has had exceptional legal prowess in winning complex employment matters. He played a pivotal role in the successful resolution of the second wrongful termination lawsuit against Wells Fargo, involving fired foreign currency traders. Heinicke attributes much of the credit for these victories to the junior partners who worked alongside him. Congratulations to Malcom A. Heinicke for his leadership in achieving justice and for acknowledging the collective efforts of his legal team.
