Each year, Diversity Lab recognizes firms that are proven leaders across the key inclusion indicators as Inclusion Champions. Participating firms complete the Inclusion Blueprint assessment by submitting data on four key diversity and inclusion indicators, including:

1. current diversity representation based on average or above-average benchmarks
2. year-over-year diversity representation progress
3. diversity representation tracking
4. meaningful inclusion practices and activities. Firms are also encouraged to commit to implementing at least one “Do Something Hard” action

In 2022, eight law firms and thirteen practice groups met or exceeded the challenging eligibility criteria to be named an Inclusion Champion.

Ryan Lowther Named Among Top Cannabis Lawyers in California by the Daily Journal

BASF member Ryan Lowther, Farella Braun + Martel, was named among the Daily Journal‘s 2022 “Top Cannabis Lawyers” in California. Ryan is the founder of Farella’s Cannabis Industry practice group. He represents every kind of stakeholder in this rapidly growing and dynamic industry, including cultivators, manufacturers, distributors, retailers, and investors. Ryan counsels his cannabis clients to launch, fund, and expand their businesses and address the significant legal and regulatory hurdles faced by enterprises in this industry.

BASF Leaders Circle Firms Listed in 2023 Vault Law 100

Vault’s national ranking of the most prestigious law firms based on the assessments of lawyers at peer firms. This year, more than 20,000 associates rated the reputations of firms other than their own. Vault’s 2023 Rankings are derived from Vault’s Annual Associate Survey conducted from March 2022 through May 2022.

Chambers High Net Worth 2022 Ranks Farella Braun + Martel and Its Partner in Private Wealth Law

BASF leaders circle firm Farella Braun + Martel‘s Private Client Industry Group was again recognized in Chambers High Net Worth (HNW) as a leading practice in Private Wealth Law in Northern California along with Family Wealth Partner Mark Weaver.

BASF Leaders Circle Firms Awarded WILEF US Gold Standard Certification 

WILEF grants Gold Standard status to major firms that meet objective criteria concerning the number of women among equity partners, in firm leadership positions, and in the ranks of their most highly compensated partners. The following BASF LC firms were selected:

For 2022 US Gold Standard Certification, firm must satisfy both the following two mandatory criteria that:

• 25% of equity partners or, alternatively, 40% of the attorneys becoming equity partners during the past twelve months are women
• 10% of women equity partners are women of color, or 4% of women equity partners are LGBTQ

and at least two of the following four criteria:

• 20% of firm and US branch office heads are women  
• 25% of the firm’s primary governance committee are women 
• 25% of the firm’s compensation committee or its equivalent are women 
• 20% of the top half of the firm’s equity partners in terms of compensation are women

For Employment Law, NLJ reviewed submissions for an array of topics, from navigating a workplace during a pandemic to setting new employee regulations in a world where cannabis laws are ever-changing, and spotlighted a handful of individuals that are truly agents of change.

Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe and Perkins Coie were listed on the Best Workplaces for Millennials by Fortune and the Great Place to Work.

To produce the Best Workplaces for Millennials, Fortune partnered with the Great Place to Work® to measure the differences in over 413,000 Millennials’ survey responses to those of other generations and assesses the impact of demographics and roles on the quality and consistency of their experiences. To be considered for the list, companies must be Great Place to Work-Certified™ and have at least 50 Millennial employees in the US. Researchers require statistically significant survey results, review anomalies in responses, news, and financial performance, and investigate any employee reports of company in compliance with strict surveying rules to validate the integrity of the results and findings.
