Former BASF board member Haywood S. Gilliam Jr., a partner and vice-chair of the White Collar Defense and Inestigations Practice Group at Covington & Burling was recently nominated by President Barack Obama to serve on the San Francisco-based U.S. District Court for Northern California.
He must be confirmed by the U.S. Senate and if approved will take the seat of U.S. District Judge Claudia Wilken.
Prior to Covington, Gilliam served as a federal prosecutor for nearly eight years. From 2004 to 2006, he served as Chief of the Securities Fraud Section of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of California.
