Meet Alvaro Carvajal, he has been the School-To-College (STC) Coordinator for the Justice & Diversity Center for three years. He works with low-income and first generation high school students at the Academy of Arts and Sciences High School to inspire and inform them on the college application process and beyond. He had this to say about what he enjoys most about his position,
“Working with kids that remind me of myself and people I grew up with. Helping them connect the dots with decision making so they can move forward in a positive direction and also avoiding the pit falls of their troubled environments.”
The Justice & Diversity Center’s School-To-College (STC) program provides high school students with important services to graduate high school and enroll in college. Currently embedded in the Academy of Arts & Sciences high school, the STC program provides guidance, information, coaching, encouragement and opportunity for students in grades 9-12.
