The VLSP StoryCommunity Organization Representation Project: Serving Organizations and Groups Throughout Northern California In 2006 over 230 CORP volunteers provided over 4,500 hours of free legal services (valued at over $1.88 million) to nearly 200 different organizations throughout Northern California. CORP Offers Free Expert Legal Help: When chief executive officers of companies are faced with decisions that have major financial consequences, they consult their company's legal department for advice. Through the Community Organization Representation Project (CORP) nonprofits can now also benefit from professional legal counsel -- and they can enjoy this benefit for free! Decisions: Decisions need to be made daily: Rent or buy? Sign a contract? Terminate an employee? During the normal course of operating an organization, executive directors and their boards often face tough choices. Without full knowledge of the legal and business implications of these choices, it is difficult to make an informed decision. Our volunteers have the experience to help! Security: CORP provides experienced business law attorneys to guide nonprofit organizations on a safe course through complex legal and administrative matters. Volunteer attorneys from some of San Francisco's best law firms help managers anticipate consequences and limit risks. Now community organizations can enjoy the peace of mind that comes from having access to legal expertise and advice. Legal assistance is available in the following areas:
